Google Unveils Powerful AI Upgrades for Android
March 3, 2025
Live Video and Screen Sharing Features
Leveraging technology from Project Astra, Google introduces “Live Video” and “Screen Sharing” capabilities to Gemini Live. The Screen Sharing feature allows users to share their screen with the AI, enabling real-time assistance based on on-screen content. For instance, users can receive guidance or information pertinent to what they’re viewing. The Live Video mode facilitates real-time video interactions with the AI, allowing users to ask questions while recording, with the AI providing immediate responses based on the visual input. These features are set to roll out by the end of the month for Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android devices.

Enhanced Integration Across Multiple Apps
Gemini’s capabilities now extend across multiple applications through a single prompt. This integration allows users to perform complex tasks, such as finding a dog-friendly restaurant and sharing the details with a friend or adding events to their calendar seamlessly. This multi-app support includes both Google and select third-party applications, enhancing user productivity and convenience.
AI-Powered Expressive Captions
In an effort to make content more accessible, Google has introduced AI-powered Expressive Captions as part of the Live Caption feature. This tool expands to include tone and ambient sound descriptions, generated by on-device AI, providing users with a richer understanding of audio content.

Global Availability and Language Support
Gemini stands as the most widely available AI assistant, supporting 45 languages across more than 200 countries and territories. It’s compatible with hundreds of phone models from various manufacturers, ensuring that a broad user base can benefit from these AI advancements.
These AI-driven features underscore Google’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies into everyday user experiences, making Android devices more versatile and user-friendly.
